lpv:translated text	"The financial crisis led to a huge decline in the freight sector – in Austria’s case, a decline of between 30% and 50% in July 2009. Traffic involving goods vehicles with a total permissible weight of more than 3.5 tonnes reduced by 17% in the first half of 2009 compared with the same period the previous year. This downward trend continued in 2010, with the result that many Austrian haulage contractors had to make job cuts. The decline in consumption and the reduced production of goods had particularly severe repercussions for the transport sector; compared with the core industries of the secondary sector, there was a time lag before these took effect.
