"Mr President, I would like to thank you for giving me the floor and to refer to what has been said by my fellow Member. It is indeed the case that when we read the materials, the extent of these irregularities is not in fact completely clear. So I decided to make a somewhat different type of analysis. Well, if we assume the extent of these irregularities in a policy group in which problems are increasing – I am thinking here of cohesion, energy and transport – comes to 7.7%, and we convert this into actual amounts, we have the following situation: a sum of EUR 41 billion has been spent on this, which means that the irregularities come to EUR 3 billion. This is, of course, EUR 3 billion too much. I would appeal for us however to give consideration to whether the methods for combating this problem are effective ones. This is because if, in spite of these efforts, the situation is deteriorating slightly year-on-year, it can be said that these methods are not very effective. However, let us remember that this is not everything, it is not even half – it is something of minor importance. Thank you."@en1
