"The Canary Islands belong to the outermost regions. To overcome their handicaps (e.g. small internal market, great distance from the mainland), special measures may be envisaged. Due to the economic and financial crisis, the industrial sector of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands has deteriorated and unemployment has risen. Tariff suspensions on imports of certain industrial products are aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the local economic operators. Therefore, there are no reasons to disagree with the report of Ms Hübner. I am in favour."@en1
