"Ms Jeggle, this multifund concept specifically allows for joint use of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF) within one operational programme. There is no plan to establish operational programmes which also make use of the rural development fund. The multifund concept relates particularly to the two funds that I have mentioned, the ERDF and the ESF.
However, what we are intending, and this is in the spirit of the joint strategic framework, is to ensure better coordination between the programmes and to establish uniform goals relating to what we ultimately plan to achieve with these programmes. One of the results should also be an improvement for end users in terms of bureaucracy and processing which will make it clear which funding is being used for each purpose. We also want to avoid overlaps between the programmes and guarantee the additional element. However, as I have said, multifund, in the strictest sense of the word, refers to the ERDF and the ESF, which will be used within one operational programme."@en1
