When the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty was first introduced, Joseph Wresinski said: ‘Wherever men and women are condemned to live in poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty’. I would like to thank the rapporteur for having included the issue of respect for human rights in his report. I would like to make an oral amendment to the plenary vote in order to clarify this concern in the next multiannual programme of the Fundamental Rights Agency.
