"Madam President, Commissioner, this report is the result of close collaboration with civil society associations, such as the International Movement ATD Fourth World.
When the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty was first introduced, Joseph Wresinski said: ‘Wherever men and women are condemned to live in poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty’.
I would like to thank the rapporteur for having included the issue of respect for human rights in his report. I would like to make an oral amendment to the plenary vote in order to clarify this concern in the next multiannual programme of the Fundamental Rights Agency. This proposal is in line with the opinion adopted by the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, for whose opinion I am rapporteur"@en1
