lpv:translated text	"Mr President, as rapporteur for the opinion of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, I recommended Parliament to consent to signing the new text of the Agreement between the European Union and Australia on the processing and transfer of passenger name record data by air carriers to the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. The re-negotiated draft agreement contains safeguards on the transfer and processing of passenger name record data, including: the right of passengers to access their own data, the right to have it corrected and the right of passengers to resort to judicial redress or sanctions in the case of any breach of data security. This proposal will enhance the effectiveness of the measures for combating terrorism and cross-border organised crime and promote international cooperation ensuring citizens’ safety. Passengers’ rights will, in any case, be better protected with this agreement than without it. I want to thank Sophia in ‘t Veld and the PNR team for their work."@en1
