On account of the financial and economic crisis, EU-wide unemployment has risen to 9.5% In the context of the Europe 2020 strategy, the Member States have undertaken to aim for and achieve an employment level of 75%. As a result of the changing requirement profiles of undertakings, we need to optimise capacity in the Union in order to adapt future skills and labour market requirements to the labour market. We need to reduce bureaucracy for SMEs in order to support the creation of jobs. Moreover, for early school-leavers and those who do not finish their traineeships, alternatives in the field of training and apprenticeship should be developed and offered.
