"Although there were enough proposals and policy content to agree on the text, I wish to stress that, if we were in a majority position, the resolution would have looked different and would have taken up, inter alia, the following points: stronger wording on the regulation of the financial industry and making a link to safeguarding the social and political stability of the EU; a call for an investment plan (avoid the term ‘growth plan’) with project bonds in order to foster the ecological transformation of the economy (Europe 2020 strategy); emphasising the role of the Commission as the core of the ‘economic government’ and clearer language as regards the democratic accountability of this ‘government’ (to the EP); harmonisation of corporate and energy taxation and the establishment of an EU financial transaction tax."@en1
