Particular attention will also be focused on measures for stimulating economic growth. The forthcoming European Council must adopt an approach advocating not only fiscal and budgetary consolidation, but also economic growth. We must avoid a situation where the adoption of measures to strengthen the governance of the euro area will lead to the EU’s euro area countries being decoupled from the rest of the Member States. In the same context, I should mention the importance of applying to all Member States the rules for joining the euro area in a non-discriminatory, and hence transparent and identical manner."@en1
