"I voted in favour of this text because its adoption under the ordinary legislative procedure would make it possible, at long last, to establish a uniform system for trade in firearms, their parts and ammunition within the European Union. By harmonising and simplifying procedures, it will therefore finally be possible to combat illegal trafficking in firearms more effectively, encouraging and strengthening cooperation between Member States in this delicate sector."@en1
