"Madam President, many words have been spoken in the House to express solidarity with the Ukrainian nation, support for the country and concern about its future in Europe. These words stand in clear opposition to Yulia Tymoshenko’s trial, which was motivated by political revenge and the attempt to eliminate her from public and political life. This is what forms the basis of the protest which is in evidence in the Chamber. On the other hand, we are confident that what has been achieved in negotiations with Ukraine and the potential of the country are considerable. Therefore, we want the process to continue, culminating in the signing of the association agreement, which will establish a free trade area. However, I fully agree with Mr Saryusz-Wolski that ratification of the agreement should depend on the actions of the current Ukrainian authorities."@en1
