"Mr President, concerns over the stability of the euro and the state of the Union in general are unfortunately here to stay. Although the Commission, the Council and the ECB took considerable steps to calm the international markets, we have yet to see a satisfactory solution to the financial crisis and Greece’s bankruptcy. I agree with you that it could give reason for hope that the EU already took a historic leap once in the past fifty years, similar to the one required to solve the current situation. We are now in a similar historic situation, as today we will be voting about the legislative ‘six pack’ that redefines the foundations of economic governance and also contains the key to our common economic success; however, all of this is has no meaning if the single currency is not sufficiently stable. The founding fathers, too, would probably be rather taken aback if more than fifty years after the founding of the Community they had to thank the BRICS countries, of all, for leading the euro area out of the crisis. Mr President, I respectfully ask you to submit your proposal as soon as possible."@en1
