lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of this resolution on a New Trade Policy for Europe under the Europe 2020 strategy. We must recognise that the EU’s prosperity and growth depend on a functioning international trade system. The Commission should therefore present a forward-looking trade and investment strategy, but we, the Members of the European Parliament, missed this important dimension in the Commission’s communication ‘Trade, Growth and World Affairs’ of 9 November 2010 on the European Union’s future trade strategy. I agree with the rapporteur that the communication on trade, growth and world affairs offers guidance on the policy to be pursued over the next few months rather than a comprehensive trade strategy for the EU, guidance which it particularly needs now as it confronts the challenges of a rapidly changing world economy and a dramatic shift in the economic balance of power. I therefore welcome the resolution’s call on the Commission to draw up a forward-looking study which takes into account the current realities of the global economy and the current situation of the European Union in addition to probable future developments. This should provide a basis on which the Commission can draw up a long-term strategy which fully addresses the needs of the European Union and of its citizens."@en1
