However, the EU is putting in place concrete measures not only to prevent accidents, but also to take action immediately if accidents happen. Recently, for example, the EU has stipulated that from 2015, all cars will have to be fitted with an electronic device called eCall, a life-saving device, which, in the event of an accident, will automatically send a request for help to the unique European emergency number 112, with the time, exact position and direction of travel. Furthermore, between 12 and 18 September, the joint European Seatbelt campaign was held by the European traffic police network.
