The increasing rate of climate change and depletion of natural capital continue to affect different countries and regions around the world, and the European Union is certainly not exempt from the many related risks. Fortunately, the European Union has the main tools for responding to disasters, although these are still limited to systematic scenarios or protocols which make their deployment inflexible in other circumstances. I hope that the possibility of creating a European emergency response centre that would be a central hub for prompt and effective coordination of assistance and of creating an EU civil protection force to bring together the resources and capabilities of all the Member States will be given serious consideration."@en1
