"− Mr President, I am happy to inform the House that last week Greece paid coupons of EUR 769 million on bonds that mature in 2037 and 2040 respectively. It proved once again that, in the face of stubborn specialists and non-specialists, with and without competence, Greece is discharging its financial obligations, while the people have suffered a massive squeeze on their income, to the point at which they cannot withstand any more. I should like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners who have stood by Greece. I refer to Ms Merkel, who has given her full assurance that, so far, Greece is paying over par for the loans given to us. In response to the solidarity and honesty of the German people, I would ask them to read carefully the article in the Sunday edition of setting out all the information on the forced occupation loan which increases Germany’s debt to Greece by 70 billion …"@en1
