"Mr President, there are times when I regret our ambiguity, but today I am proud to be European. I welcome the adoption of this report, which ultimately aims to contribute to Palestine’s economic development. The adoption of this Agreement also comes at a crucial time for the future of this Arab nation, which has recently applied for full membership of the United Nations. This Agreement is positive because it will improve the lives and prospects of many people who live under a three-fold oppression: firstly, the oppression caused by poverty, and on top of this, the absence of freedom and the constant infringement of their fundamental rights. This trade agreement is a way of ensuring that the Council’s conclusions on the Middle East peace process, adopted on 8 December 2009, become something more than words. We are contributing to peace and to a solution for this conflict by bringing some justice, and we should be proud of that."@en1
