Over 90% of the EU’s oil and 60% of its gas is produced via offshore operations. Activity is not uniformly distributed across the EU and the large majority of operations take place in the North Sea. A number of incidents in recent years have led all operators to reassess and improve the safety of their industry. The resolution adopted today proposes measures designed to protect the environment from all possible risks of pollution.
