"I voted in favour of this report. The availability of fair access to, and stable and predictable prices for, raw materials are vital to the development potential, competitiveness, innovation and preservation of European industry. Resource policy and resource diplomacy are of huge importance for the EU, not only with regard to industrial policy and international trade but also as a transversal issue concerning different fields of domestic policy, as well as foreign and security policy. I agree that we need to work towards decoupling economic growth from increased use of resources, which would help reduce relative import dependency. There is a need to invest in research, development and innovation and properly exploit the potential of public procurement, promoting the use of resource-efficient products."@en1
