". It is the case that people approaching retirement age are subjected to discrimination in businesses on account of their age. However, women are placed at a disadvantage not only on account of their age, but often also an account of their gender. Women’s employment is characterised from the outset by repeated career breaks, low pay and the gender pay gap. The disadvantaged position of women in the workplace on account of their gender and age must be eliminated. Moreover, mature women, in particular, are offered very few opportunities for further training, which, above all, makes everyday work with the latest technology and adaptation to the requirements of the job considerably more difficult for the people concerned. Therefore, the EU needs to find sustainable solutions to these problems."@en1
