"Mr President, we can at least say that it is difficult not to agree with the main concept of this report, namely that women can also be entrepreneurs. Of course they can. In fact, I know many female entrepreneurs, and they are very capable to boot. It is also hard not to agree that the Member States should adopt measures that make it easier to combine family life and work, and that the Member States, the Commission and we, too, here in Parliament, must improve the framework conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises. However, why should that benefit female entrepreneurs in particular? Instead of indulging in a victim mentality, could we not simply say that we must ensure good framework conditions for everyone who wants to start their own business? Thus, each individual man and each individual woman can decide for themselves whether or not they want to be an entrepreneur."@en1
