lpv:translated text	"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, with today’s vote we have certainly moved towards an improvement in the safety and inspection of offshore oil and gas activities, in order to prevent a repeat of incidents such as the one which occurred in 2010 on the platform in the Gulf of Mexico, claiming 11 lives and causing very severe environmental damage. I welcome the proposal to coordinate our civil protection forces instead of creating supranational bodies. Better still, I hope that cooperation will be strengthened between the inspection bodies in order to establish common and independent standards at European level. I think that the proposal to establish a Mediterranean Offshore Authorities Forum is a positive one."@en1
