lpv:translated text	"Mr President, we are all aware that Europe is faced with both major challenges and opportunities when it comes to raw materials. Raw materials policies are also particularly important to the European Union in relation to industrial policy and international trade, as well as to cross-cutting policies affecting different areas of domestic policy, not to mention external and security policy. Against this background, I believe that it is vital to monitor agricultural raw material policies efficiently in order to devise an effective strategy. I think that closer coordination is needed between the European Commission and Member States, as well as the need to keep the European Parliament regularly informed on the progress of the initiative on agricultural raw materials, by means of an annual activity report. Last but not least, I wish to congratulate the rapporteur for all his efforts as part of this report."@en1
