Mr Van Orden’s report aims to clarify the present situation on the production, use and number of victims of anti-personnel mines and the efforts made to help the countries that have signed the Ottawa Convention. In addition it examines the consistency of the actions undertaken and underlines the necessary steps for improving the EU approach to mine action and focuses on EU efforts in the most important areas at a time when resources are scarce.
