"− There is fundamentally nothing to say against development aid. It can help to free countries from grinding poverty. Of course, we must continue to take into account the fact that almost all the Member States have a huge burden of sovereign debt, which will still be a problem for subsequent generations. In recent years, numerous experts have highlighted the fact that development aid can lead to a culture of dependency and, therefore, it has been shown to be counterproductive. However, this report attempts to take a more sensible approach by helping countries to help themselves. For this reason, I have voted in favour of it."@en1
