".
According to the Eurobarometer survey published in February 2011, only 26% of EU citizens can identify spontaneously the 112 number as the number to call for emergency services in the EU. The survey also highlights that 58% of EU citizens still believe that the general public in their country has not been provided with sufficient information about the existence of the 112 emergency call number. This report helps improve access to emergency services for people with disabilities and specifically raise the awareness of travellers, and imposes stricter obligations on caller location information, as well as on accuracy and reliability criteria in order to ensure the same response and treatment as in the case of calls made to national emergency numbers and where there is no access to technological facilities.
I voted for this report because the 112 number must be given the support it deserves to ensure the maximum benefits in terms of protecting citizens’ lives. Otherwise, it would become redundant."@en1
