The general approach of the directive is now maximum harmonisation, with a few significant exceptions. It is particularly important that the directive apply to digital products, as well as – partially – to passenger transportation. The directive includes a vast array of requirements for information to be provided to the consumer by the trader prior to the signing of the contract, whether this is done in person or at a distance. It is very important that consumers be informed of the total price and principle characteristics of a given product immediately before ordering."@en1
