lpv:translated text	"Madam President, first of all, I, too, would like to congratulate my colleague, Mr Bartolozzi, for this initiative. Relations between the EU and Mongolia must be reviewed with a view to ratifying the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. This document will strengthen relations between both sides and encourage economic reforms. Mongolia offers considerable potential in terms of energy resources and trade. Until now, relations with the EU have been based only on the provisions of the 1993 trade agreement. This is why the figures for trade volume have been fairly low. In terms of culture, there have been problems organising student exchanges. Extending programmes like Erasmus to this region would also improve this area of cooperation. I think that an EU delegation needs to be established to coordinate all these activities better. This will allow direct contact with the authorities to ensure effective implementation of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement."@en1
