lpv:translated text	"Mr President, the report on the mid-term review of the Seventh Framework Programme is especially significant. There are four reasons – which I consider to be paramount – why I voted in favour of the report: 1) the simplification and streamlining of procedures in order to make it easier to access funding; 2) the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are essential for growth and employment; 3) innovation for a competitive manufacturing sector capable of meeting the challenges of the market; and 4) the risk finance facility, which so far has produced very good results. Lastly, I should like to point out that the triangle of knowledge, education and research – on which the future of the cohesion policy rests – can only be consolidated in Europe through a steadfast commitment to research."@en1
