I was in Tunisia recently, where I met not only with the government and the President of the Republic, but also with representatives of civil society, women’s organisations and trade unions. I saw how important they see our commitment to be, not only in the shape of support from governments, but also that of civil society. Once again, as I said to Mrs Sarnez, the European Parliament’s commitment would also be very important in this respect, in the context of relations with the burgeoning parliaments and political parties in these young and new democracies."@en1
