However, this report completely fails to mention the role of Islam. The report mentions ‘traditional or religious practices’ just once, and very generally, in paragraph 3, despite the fact that it is well-known that, specifically in Islam, violence against women is the order of the day. The oppression of women, after all, is an intrinsic part of Islam. The PVV wants to see violence against women tackled, but is voting against this report because it fails to mention the motives and the background of the perpetrators. By failing to explicitly mention Islam as a cause of violence, we are missing a great opportunity to tackle this specific form of violence against women."@en1
