"It is always important to combat violence against women, which takes many shapes and forms, leaving its marks both on the body and on the mind, and leading the victims of violence even to commit suicide in some cases. I am pleased that we are creating a new framework for the EU’s fight against this unacceptable phenomenon, and I was therefore happy to vote in favour of the report. However, I was unable to vote for the parts of the report leading towards support for the artificial termination of pregnancy, as I disagree with this, because the as yet unborn human being has a right to life."@en1
