lpv:translated text	"Dual-use items are products which are liable to have both civil and military uses, such as chemical products and technical construction material, as well as software and other new technologies. It is often difficult to predict the true purpose of exported products; therefore exporters must be made aware of their responsibilities and be obliged to verify the true purpose of the various products they sell abroad. Even though several control and information mechanisms already exist, we have called for heightened security in this area. That is why we voted in favour of the amendments calling for prior notification of exports, stricter controls and greater transparency. This will provide an additional safeguard to prevent misuse and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."@en1
