"The radical changes in European rural areas all represent challenges in terms of population, jobs, services and the environment. We must emphasise the significant impact of the presence and involvement of women on quality of life and the rural economy. Women will represent great potential for the EU when it undertakes to develop and build on Europe’s rural economy. EU funding can therefore help to improve the quality of life and work in rural areas by boosting incomes and through schooling and vocational and academic education and further training. The future of the agricultural sector depends on its ability to diversify. The potential of the services provided by farm businesses in addition to their own food output depends on the creativity of the people involved, the women among them having already contributed a great deal. There are many opportunities for the creation of local services, and to involve women in these is the best way to guarantee the success of such projects."@en1
