"In view of the continuing stream of migrants into Europe it would seem all the more important to take a stance against the legalisation of economic migrants. It is vital that developing countries should receive our support so that these people are encouraged to remain in their own countries. It makes no sense to allow people from developing countries to enter the labour market, particularly because the unemployment rate in the euro area currently stands at 9.9%. Mr Provera’s original report was very good and well-balanced. However various amendments have unfortunately changed it in the wrong way. It is for this reason that I have cast a ‘no’ vote."@en1
