lpv:translated text	"As a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), I carefully followed the entire process leading to the creation of the European Banking Authority. For this reason, I voted in favour of the appointment of Mr Farkas as its executive director. The European Banking Authority must be put in a position to be able to start carrying out the tasks assigned to it by Parliament some months ago. I sincerely hope that the Authority is provided with the human and economic resources it needs so as to ensure that its supervisory role is implemented seriously and precisely. During the hearing held in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the new executive director convinced me and my colleagues of his competence and professionalism, as today’s vote shows. An additional positive factor, which will benefit the process of European integration, is that the new executive director comes from a Member State that only recently acceded to the European Union."@en1
