The EU-Canada Air Transport Agreement is very important for the future of relations between both sides. As such, following the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon, the European Parliament needs to be fully informed and consulted with regard to the work carried out by the Joint Committee, as well as all of the entities involved. Any Agreement that is to be concluded will need to be adopted by Parliament, which will therefore need to be kept up-to-date with all negotiations.
This Agreement is therefore an important step towards opening up the market to airlines from the EU and Canada without any discrimination. This opening up of the market may contribute to the improvement of services provided to passengers. This is the most ambitious transport Agreement ever signed between two countries."@en1
