In this respect, the cohesion policy, along with the common agricultural policy, is a priority area in view of the negotiations on the new post-2013 European Union budget. It is vital to maintain a large proportion of the post-2013 EU budget for the cohesion policy to ensure that the European Union meets its ambitious targets and provides appropriate support for the implementation of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
