". It is a positive thing that the Hungarian Prime Minister has clearly emphasised his willingness to adjust the new media law, should the EU so request. The European Commission must now be able to do its work in complete independence. That is the only way to break free of party political games. Media pluralism and freedom of the press are fundamental European values. All EU Member States, not just Hungary, have made a formal commitment to respect them. That is enshrined in the EU Treaty and the Council of Europe has formal agreements on the matter. We are confident that the Hungarian Government will leave no room for ambiguity there."@en1
