I have voted against the Bendtsen report, because the figures have once again been changed and the targets are restrictive. It is true that this is a non-legislative report, but the effects of the ecodesign directive have shown how carefully these issues must be handled. As result of the light bulb ban, I have had to evacuate a room after an energy-saving bulb containing mercury broke, in order to avoid damage being caused to people’s health. This is exactly the sort of thing that must be stopped in good time."@en1
