National disasters and calamities must be a priority and I hope that in the future, the European Commission will take prompter, more immediate action. The Irish floods took place in November 2009 and Parliament did not give its approval until today, more than one year after the event. The Veneto region has recently experienced a flood and I very much hope that the Commission’s action will be speedier and more timely than in the past."@en1
