However, I think that what we should take from Mrs Geringer’s report – which is excellent and on which I congratulate – is not only the letter, which is very important, and the objectives, but also the spirit with which this report has been written, which should pervade everyone involved in the European Union. If not we will fall once again into wearily and repeatedly making speeches about what is happening and how badly some things are happening. I therefore believe that the Commissioner’s comments today not only demonstrate political will but also have credibility.
