This report tables some solutions, of which I would stress the need to promote an increase in the added value of European agri-food production; the importance of considering measures to discourage abusive practices, such as the introduction of penalties and the ‘naming and shaming’ of companies failing to comply; and the creation of a European farm prices and margins observatory. I also consider it essential to promote the rationalisation of the food supply chain in order to reduce the environmental impact of food transportation, to promote the marketing of local foodstuffs, and to sustainably develop the rural economy."@en1
