The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) is a useful tool that the EU can use to offer support and solidarity to workers who have lost their jobs. Up to 2009, little use was made of the fund for bureaucratic reasons, and I believe the Commission’s request to introduce measures for reducing the length of the fund mobilisation procedure is fundamentally important. If flexibility and accessibility increase, the EGF will become an essential tool for the social policies of Member States. For these reasons, I voted in favour."@en1
