"I believe that Iceland’s accession to the European Union is beneficial to both sides: Iceland will enjoy greater economic stability, while the European Union will play a more active role in the Arctic Region.
However, there are a number of shortcomings which Iceland needs to remedy by the time it joins. One of these is financial supervision reform. Iceland is part of the European Economic Area and applies the
in the single market. However, it needs to be fully complied with in the areas of assessing conformity, accreditation and supervision of the market. Another problem which needs to be tackled is the independence of the judiciary.
