Yet this morning, we heard from John Ging, the director of operations for UNRWA, that in practice, although food is now being allowed in by Israel, people cannot afford to buy it because nothing is being allowed in for commerce or business to create the employment and the job prospects to give them sufficient income. I think Israel’s policy has been regarded by many of us as deceitful. Last month, Parliament called for the Commission and the Council to stop just using words and to start applying some action. Through the Association Agreement, the Commission has the power to put pressure upon Israel. When are we going to see some action from the Commission to ensure that the relief of Gaza takes place?"@en1
