The European fisheries industry has high quality standards and a great deal of specialist knowledge and we must continue to support it. One important aspect of this is to promote research and development. Together with the upstream and downstream production and processing sectors, the European fisheries industry is responsible for thousands of jobs within the EU and these jobs must be protected.
