That fear was made greater by reports coming from areas that had already been flooded. Flood victims in Poland have received support and empathy from many people, organisations and institutions. They have received help, too, from abroad. My political group, Civic Platform, and our candidate for President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, have helped in the rescue effort. Europe is already united, on the basis of its own principles, and not because of calls for unity being made by the Polish opposition. The Solidarity Fund and its mechanisms work independently of debate and politicians, and it is a very good thing that this aid mechanism is independent."@en1
