However, I want to make it clear that I oppose the ongoing liberalisation of railways in the European Union, which is responsible for the fragmentation, lack of investment and ineffectiveness of rail freight today. This compromise with the Council is an effort to improve the situation; therefore, I vote for it. But it builds on the liberalisation that I strongly oppose. However, this vote does not concern deregulation, which is already in the treaty."@en1
