"The subject of colour coding seems to be the most heated point of discussion in today’s debate. This idea might be attractive, but it is definitely not effective at all and is even dangerous. Perish the thought for saying that providing consumers with correct information and adopting measures against food-related illnesses should not be a priority. However, I also think that we must not demonise certain foods. There are no good or bad foods, only consuming excessive food. Many traditional European products could end up being avoided by consumers or altered by producers, which would have serious repercussions on our food industry. I wish to finish by pointing out that I share Mrs Grossetête’s view regarding meat obtained via ritual slaughter and Mr Dorfmann’s view about hand-made food products, which are also an important tradition in Europe. Last but not least, I support Amendment 351 mentioned by Giovanni La Via."@en1
